Why are you having a workshop?
The ever-improving systems of A Bryan Photo have been forged through many trials, mistakes and victories. We believe that we have a lot to say to the photography industry concerning art, work flow, production and client relations. We aren't saying we have mastered it all, but we have strived to make the systems that we do have in place the best possible. We feel like sharing our story with others in the industry would help save them some of the headaches we have lived through, assist them in capturing better moments on film, streamline their workflow, and better engage and serve their clientele.

What are we going to cover?
Creating remarkable images
Managing a wedding client's expectations
Telling stories through album design
Getting published
Partnering with great vendors
Pushing yourself creatively
Shooting techniques
Using your flash indoors

Do I need a film camera?
We ask students to bring their favorite camera of choice, whether film or digital, as well as a flash.  If students are interested in learning more about film and have a film camera, we recommend that you bring it. All of the A Bryan Photo film cameras will be available for students to use.  They will have access to these cameras:
Mamiya RZ 67
Rolleiflex
Leica M6
Lomo LC+A
Holga

How much knowledge of film should I have?
It is not important that photographers know how to shoot film before coming.  While shooting film will be covered at the workshop, our ultimate goal is for students to leave feeling creatively inspired with an in-depth knowledge of how to run a successful studio.

How is the workshop structured?
Students will arrive on the evening (7 PM) of November 15th for drinks at the A Bryan Photo studio. We will have in studio sessions all day on Monday and Tuesday morning. Tuesday afternoon we will be shooting models at a beautiful Birmingham location. Each evening we will all enjoy dinner together at great local restaurants and dialogue about the day.

What are the accommodations?
For out of town students, we recommend the historic Redmont Hotel.  It's a short 6 blocks from the A Bryan Photo studio and they have given us a great group rate of $99 a night.  If you are interested in rooming with another student in order to save money, send an email to ashley@abryanphoto.com and we will try and pair you up.
